Social Services

Our mission in the department is to assist students in solving social, emotional and/or academic problems that impede their ability to advance in school or in their personal development. We value our students and believe strongly in their individual worth and dignity. We recognize that each student possesses inner strengths and the capability for growth and change. We believe that support services improve the quality of life through prevention and timely intervention.

 

The primary sources of referrals to a school social worker are school principals, counselors, teachers, and nurses. Parents may also refer their child if they believe social services would benefit. Additionally, students may self-refer.

 

Confidentiality is vital to the helping process; it impacts our effectiveness in building trust with our students and families. All services will be held confidential unless there is evidence of imminent harm to self or others.
